Pastoral Support Partnership Opportunity for International Social Care Recruits in North Central London

North London Councils (NLC) received funding from the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to help solve important workforce problems in adult social care. This programme supports care providers in hiring and keeping international social care workers across the boroughs of Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, and Islington.

To make this happen, NLC is working with PJ’s Community Services, which will run a pastoral support programme for these workers. This programme offers:

  • Health and well-being support to help workers stay healthy and balanced.

  • Community integration services to help workers feel at home in their new area.

  • Peer support networks so workers can connect with others in similar roles.

  • Cultural orientation training to teach workers about local customs and work practices in the UK.

These services help ensure that international staff feel welcome, supported, and ready to succeed in their roles.

If you want to know more about the pastoral support programme or sign up, subscribe to our provider bulletin or contact Noa Solomon at noa.solomon@camden.gov.uk.

International recruitment toolkit

It’s important to hire international workers in adult social care in a fair and legal way. Care providers must also make sure these workers are supported when they arrive and start working in the UK.

The new International Recruitment Toolkit for Social Care, created by the Department of Health and Social Care and Skills for Care, gives providers the tools they need to do this well. The guide helps ensure that recruitment is:

  • Fair and legal, following all UK rules.

  • Sustainable, meeting the needs of both workers and care providers over the long term.

  • Person-focused, helping new workers settle into their jobs and communities.

This toolkit is a must-have for care providers who want to maintain high standards in recruitment while dealing with workforce shortages in adult social care.
