Adult Social Care Occupational Therapy Service
Occupational therapy is about supporting people to manage essential daily activities.
Daily activities may be:
- getting in and out of the bath or shower
- getting around your home, and going and down stairs
- sometimes feeling unsafe in your own home, such as the possibility of falling or forgetting to switch off taps or cookers.
If you have a carer, the Occupation Therapy service also considers the needs and abilities of your carer.
We then make recommendations, which can include some or all of the following:
- working with you to find a different way to manage tasks you have difficulty with
- providing minor adaptations e.g. grab rails to help get in and out of your bath
- arranging major adaptations like stairlifts and ramps
- advice and equipment to make things easier and safer for carers
