When is a crime impact assessment required?
A crime impact assessment should be sent with all major applications. This can be sent either:
- as part of a design and access statement
- or as a separate document cross-referencing the design and access statement.
What information should be included in a crime impact assessment?
The assessment needs to show that you have considered the impact on crime and antisocial behaviour. Where appropriate, you will have designed it out.
How do I submit a crime impact assessment?
If you apply for planning permission online using the Planning Portal, you can upload your crime impact assessment then. This is after you have completed the relevant application forms.
Before uploading any files, please read our guidance notes for submitting electronic files with planning applications (PDF).
If you choose to submit a paper-based application instead, you will need to provide:
- four copies of your crime impact assessment
- four copies of the relevant application forms.
