Taking action to cut our carbon emissions
As part of the Camden’s Climate Action Plan, we committed do everything we can to reduce emissions from our own estate and operations by 2030.
Our Carbon Management Plan, defines how we measure, manage, and reduce emissions from our own estate and operations. The Carbon Management Plan provides a programme of projects and activities that the council can deliver to reduce emissions by 2030.
Leading by example
Through the Carbon Management Plan, we are improving the energy efficiency of our buildings and looking at ways to remove fossil fuel use.
In 2022/23 we delivered a number of projects which will reduce emissions from our buildings.
- At Swiss Cottage Library, we have installed roof and wall insulation, ventilation improvements, double glazing, LED lighting and heat pumps with the aim of reducing carbon emissions by more than 138 tonnes/CO2e per annum.
- At Camden Town Hall we have installed secondary double glazing, improved insulation, and heat pumps. The works are expected to reduce carbon emissions by 335 tonnes/CO2e per annum.
