What is a trainee Nurse Associate?
The Trainee Nursing Associate is a highly trained support role to deliver effective, safe and responsive nursing care in and across a wide range of health and care settings. Nursing Associates work independently, and with others, under the leadership and direction of a Registered Nurse within defined parameters, to deliver care in line with an agreed plan.
A nursing associate is a role that bridges the gap between health care workers and registered nurses, validated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council. You’ll be expected to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting registered nurses by undertaking holistic care for patients.
The nursing associate role is exciting and varied. It is designed to provide organisation with an additional range of skills to help teams make best use of their resources within their registered nursing workforce. As a nursing associate, you will support registered nurses by treating minor illnesses and managing long-term conditions, meaning registered nurses are able to support patients with more.
What is the trainee nurse associate apprenticeship programme?
You’ll have the opportunity to complete three placements across three different healthcare settings: Hospital trust, GP practice or Nursing home.
The programme will prepare trainees to work with service users of all ages and backgrounds with health and social care needs. You’ll complete their training in adult care, pediatric care, mental health and learning disability – giving you a strong grounding in all four areas of nursing.
You will have the opportunity to carry out various placements across different settings giving them the opportunity to work in different environments and learn new skills. It also means you earn a wage while training.
How can I access the Trainee nursing apprenticeship in north central London?
The apprenticeship and training in north central London is run by Middlesex University, located in Hendon.
It takes two years to complete the apprenticeship programme and will result in a foundation degree. Potential trainee nursing associates must be employed within an organisation on a fulltime basis, have lived in the UK for the past three years and have level 2 maths and English GCSE or equivalent.
